In November 1963, Malcolm X gave his Message to the Grassroots speech in the Main Auditorium of King Solomon Church. In 1964, he would give his the Ballot or the Bullet lecture in this same auditorium. In addition to its significance to the civil rights movement, this space also occupies an important place in Detroit musical history. The Supremes were discovered by Berry Gordy while performing here. Sam Cooke gave a concert here as well. The Art Deco auditorium was built in 1937 and has a capacity of 5,000 people. This building is listed on the national register of historic places and is an ideal space for your next concert or for launch events for new projects in art and social entrepreneurship.
